Karon L. Simmonds

Ms. Simmonds joined the SDA in March 2004 and currently serves as Director of the Risk Management and Vendor Services Division within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Simmonds' primary role is the management of the NJSDA's Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) and other SDA insurance programs insuring the construction of School Facilities as well as the Authority's ongoing business operations. Ms. Simmonds' responsibilities include partnering with other operating divisions to identify and assess all aspects of tangible exposures to loss and exploring alternative risk transfer strategies. Ms. Simmonds' 25-year career as a retail insurance broker and Certified Insurance Counselor enables her to bring a wealth of experience to successfully manage all NJSDA's insurance needs. Prior to joining the NJSDA, Ms. Simmonds served as Vice President for The Safegard Group, a retail insurance brokerage firm where she worked closely with the NJEDA for ten years. Her primary responsibilities included designing and marketing comprehensive risk management and insurance programs for commercial clients. Ms. Simmonds previously served as the President of the Valley Forge Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).
